With nearly a decade of experience in journalism and corporate communications, I use my skills in storytelling, reporting, effective communication and content strategy to connect with, engage and inspire any given audience with the right message.

Currently a freelancer, I have written for dozens of consumer publications, including Popular Science, Smithsonian, The New York Times, Parade magazine, Vice, TIME, Medium, Columbia Journalism Review, CityLab, DFW Child, BBC, The Houston Chronicle and Undark.

I’ve also done branded journalism, content marketing and copywriting work that spans several industries. In 2018, I was a contract writer covering personal finance, student loans and the gig economy for CometFi.com, a student loan refinancing company. Other clients include Procter & Gamble, Chase Sapphire, Barclays, Canvas8 and Lonely Planet.

Working as a freelancer has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my career. In addition to the logistical elements of running your own business, freelance work means effectively communicating with editors, writers, leaders and stakeholders across various industries and roles, being proactive in client needs and business opportunities, and being flexible and ready to respond to changes.

Before going full-time freelance, I was a Communications Specialist II at GM Financial, the finance arm of General Motors. With a focus on internal communications, I worked with leaders in several departments to develop content strategies for rolling out initiatives and sharing news with employees. My work involved writing and editing internal emails, articles, magazine stories, ads, social media copy and video scripts. I also oversaw multiple editorial calendars and helped streamline our style guide.

I have a background in local journalism, having worked as an editor and reporter at The Dallas Morning News and The Burleson Star, a community news publication south of Fort Worth.

I live in Fort Worth, Texas, where I also enjoy riding bikes, sewing and gardening.
